Al Roker Today Show TV NBC News 2017 Promo Only Orange Colored Vinyl LP The record being offered for sale here is a real novelty and a true rarity.  Back in 2017, NBC-TV Today Show personality Al Roker gave up technology for 7 days and made a week long series called «Al Techs Out», featuring one segment where he visits Nashville, Tennessee and films a story about the comeback of vinyl record albums. – You can copy and paste this link in your browser to view the entire story, which is about 5 minutes long: https://www.nbcnews.com/dateline/video/vinyl-is-back-al-roker-tunes-in-on-the-resurgence-of-vinyl-records-890961475919?featureFlag=true Al first shows up at Third Man Records, followed by a visit to the United Record Pressing plant in Nashville. He is taken on a tour through the facility and shown each step along the way about how vinyl records are manufactured. At the end, Al is told that they have a surprise for him.  He states that he loves surprises, and is then taken into a manufacturing room where a unique 12 inch Orange Colored Vinyl LP is being pressed that has the Today Show logo on both sides plus his name on one of the record labels. It’s hard to know how many of these were manufactured.  We could see maybe 10 or less in the stack from the TV segment, and we don’t know if any more additional copies were made beyond those.  One was given to Al as a gift for his visit, and the LP we are offering here is one of the additional copies that was made. There’s no music on the record, just five banded cuts of empty grooves on each side.  One of the record labels just says Today, and the other says Today plus has his name printed on it. This was issued with no custom cover and comes inside a plain white LP jacket.  The record is in EX condition and would display beautifully or make a great addition to an unusual vinyl collection. All of our LP’s are shipped in sturdy cardboard LP mailers with appropriate padding. With the exception of sealed LP’s, all LP’s are removed from their outer sleeves to prevent seam splitting. All records are carefully graded. In an attempt to give customers an accurate impression of condition rather than adhere to somewhat arbitrary criteria, The Great Escape gives an «overall presentation» grade; we do not give a «listening» grade. Our vinyl listings are supplemented when necessary with additional remarks. For example: where some dealers will not allow a cut corner on an otherwise near mint jacket (often automatically relegating it to a VG+ at best), we may grade such a record as NM and note the cut-out mark (thereby letting you know what it «really» looks like: a near-perfect record with a cut corner).
